About

My main academic interest concerns Egypt under Persian domination.

My focus is particularly on three aspects of this period of transition: politic and administrative integration in the Achaemenid administrative structure (in particular fiscal matters, temple policy and war); the economic position of Egypt in the Mediterranean trade (specially the working environment of the traders and perceptions of commercial activities); the rise of Demotic Literature and its possible interactions with Greek and Biblical Literatures.

At the moment, I am ATER (Temporary Research Assistant) at the Collège de France attached to the chair Histoire et Civilisation du monde achéménide et de l’Empire d’Alexandre held by Profesor Pierre Briant. I collaborate with Michel Chauveau (EPHE) to publish the Ostraca of Ayn Manawir (505 ostraca coming from the south of Khargah Oasis) on Achemenet.com (Just finished !). I am particularly interested by the life in the Oases in North Africa.

With Gauthier Tolini (UMR 7041, ArScan-HAROC) we are writing a life of Cambyses son of Cyrus the Great based on Egyptian and Babylonian sources : Cambyse. Entre histoire et mémoire (forthcoming in 2012).
